Microneedling For Burn Scars

Burns, often resulting from heat or chemicals, can leave lasting scars. These scars can be more than visual reminders of past trauma; they can be painful, restrictive, and affect daily activities. If burn scars are impacting your life, treatments are available to provide relief and rejuvenation.

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a treatment that offers dual benefits for burn scars. By stimulating the skin's natural healing through controlled micro-injuries, it not only reduces the visibility of scars but also improves skin flexibility. This process promotes collagen and elastin production, making scar tissue more supple and less restrictive.

.

Am I a candidate for microneedling for my burn scars?

While microneedling can be beneficial for many types of scars, there are some cases where it might not be recommended. If you're uncertain about the suitability of your burn scar for treatment, we advise you to schedule a consultation.

  • Unstable or Active Keloids: While microneedling can help with some keloid scars, those that are actively growing or unstable might not respond well to the treatment. In some cases, microneedling might exacerbate the condition.

  • Open or Unhealed Wounds: Any scar or skin area that is still open, raw, or hasn't fully healed should not be treated with microneedling.

Understand Your Treatment Plan

Is microneedling for burn scars painful?

This varies from person to person as everyone’s tolerance for discomfort is different. Treatments using our plastic, non-invasive needles are very gentle and discomfort is minimal. Treatments using our metal, more invasive needles, patients often describe the discomfort level as moderate.

How long does a treatment session take?

The treatment will take roughly 1 hour to complete, including consultation, however, it may take longer depending on the size of the area treated and the condition of the scar.

What areas can be treated with microneedling?

All parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back can be treated.

Can microneedling be done on burn scars located on joints or areas with frequent movement?

Yes, microneedling can be performed on areas with frequent movement. In fact, it can help improve flexibility in scars that restrict movement in such areas.

Testimonials

What people say about us

I am so pleased with the results of five sessions, of micro-needling therapy on my scaring, over a period of time, at Kelly’s clinic. The scars have considerably thinned out, become much lighter in colour, matching normal skin colour more so and scarring has shrunken in size, considerably, stretching and shifting healthy normal skin, across 1/3 of my abdomen, to the right. The results are truly amazing, worth travelling a long way for treatment & worth every penny. It’s also, amazing to see how your skin reacts and heals, after treatment, which basically initiates the body’s natural response to healing.
