Vitiligo Camouflage

What Is Vitiligo Tattoo Camouflage?

Vitiligo is a chronic form of depigmentation. It affects around 0.5% of the population and the cause is still unknown.

Vitiligo can affect either one small part of the body or the whole body.  It is frequently found on the hands and face.

Treatment for vitiligo involves colour tattooing to match closely the colour of the skin.  The greatest effect is on darker skin.  It is recommended that before tattooing in colour is carried out, the vitiligo must have remained static for at least seven years as the treatment could trigger the vitiligo and cause it to spread.

An outbreak can always happen so careful consideration must be taken before a patient embarks on a micro pigmentation procedure.

Understand Your Treatment Plan

Am I a candidate for Vitiligo Camouflage Tattooing?

A colour patch test on the skin will be required before treatment commences, however your Vitiligo should not be changing, expanding or have spread for 7 years before you can have this treatment, a requirement set by UK insurance organisations.

 Is the tattooing procedure painful?

Some clients feel no sensation at all, others feel mild discomfort. Topical numbing is used to control discomfort if required.

How long does the tattooing typically last?

Medical tattooing can last 1 - 3 years, but factors like sun exposure, lifestyle, skin type and skin regeneration can affect longevity. Periodic touch-ups might be necessary.

What is the aftercare process for areola & nipple tattooing?

After treatment, you may experience some swelling/redness for up to 48 hours after your procedure. During the healing process, you will experience some scabbing of the area. It is vital that you try to keep the area as dry as possible during the healing process. We recommend you do not swim, sunbathe or use a sauna/jacuzzi for 2 weeks after the procedure.
